e-News® | The NEWS Company…DHAKA, Aug 04, 2015 : Entrepreneur Jake Hollier has turned one of the UK’s iconic red phone boxes into what is thought to be Birmingham’s smallest coffee shop. Jake is the first person to rent one of the phone boxes after charitable trust Thinking Outside The Box was granted planning permission to turn the phone boxes into kiosks.
Subject to the success of his first phone box venture, Jake has already set his sights on turning one of the other boxes into a street food vendor. He said: “Everyone looks at you like I’m crazy but I am getting good responses, good feedback, people walking past and saying it’s absolutely brilliant and a good idea. So far so good.” ake added that he wanted to bring something different to the city and that the project had been six months in the making.
A similar project is already running in Brighton, where phone boxes in Brighton’s Pavillion Gardens are now selling coffee and ice cream.
