e-News® | The NEWS Company… : Stressing the need for using environment-friendly construction materials, environment and forest minister Anwar Hossain Manju sunday said the use of environment-friendly construction materials is needed for sustainable development.
“There is no alternative but to use environment-friendly construction materials for sustainable development,” the minister said while speaking at a seminar here. Concord, a private company, organized the seminar. Korean ambassador Lee Yun-young, FEJB chairman Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, Institute of Engineers president Dr Engineer M Shamim Z. Basunia, Concord Group chairman SM Kamal Uddin, managing director SK Lala, deputy managing director Shahriar Kamal, among others, spoke at the seminar.
The environment minister said the new generation entrepreneurs are coming up with new ideas about manufacturing of new construction materials. Some of them are working abroad and Bangladesh can be proud with its new generation entrepreneurs, he added. He said some countries are responsible for environment pollution. Bangladesh needs a lot of money to face the adverse impacts of environment pollution, he said, adding that those who are responsible for environment pollution are giving Bangladesh money and training to face the situation.
Korean ambassador Lee Yun-young said climate change is a big issue for Bangladesh. All countries of the world need to work together to face adverse impacts of environment pollution, he added. FEJB chairman Quamrul Islam Chowdhury said green economy is now a big issue. Sustainable development can be achieved if environment-friendly green growth, prudent natural resource management, social development and economic development are pursued in a holistic manner, he added.
