#thenewscompany – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today sounded a strong warning against secret killings saying such a heinous act would bring no benefit for these killers as none of them can change the country’s democratic course through their beastly activities.
“If anybody think that they can upset everything through such killings, they are simply wrong,” she told the parliament.
Replying to questions from the lawmakers during the PM’s weekly question-answer session, the Prime Minister said Bangladesh has reached the present democratic position after wading across a long turbulent way.
“Therefore, Bangladesh will never fall in such trouble in the next course of time and democracy will not also be jeopardized,” she told the house with Deputy Speaker Advocate Fazley Rabbi Mia in the chair.
The Prime Minister said those carrying out secret killings would be netted in and subjected to punishment. In this regard, she referred to the trial of war criminals after 44 years as well as the execution of the killers of Bangabandhu through proper trial of them.
She urged the parents, sisters, brother and other family members of the secret killers to ask their sons to refrain from such brutal acts. Otherwise, she said, people would resist them and even might be furious over their families to take revenge.
Responding to a question from Fazilatunessa Bappi, a female member in the reserved seat, the Prime Minister said power and prison stand side by side for her as it had been in the case of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman.
“So I didn’t succumb to the threat and allurement of the previous caretaker government to refrain from politics and election,” she said.
Recalling the chaotic situation unleashed by the BNP-Jamaat clique in 2013 and 2014 the Prime Minister said people didn’t accept their style of movement, which led the people to resist them.
In the first three months of 2015, they carried out similar killing and destruction, killing hundreds of people in fire, burning thousands of transports, drivers and innocent people. The evil force became defused when people started to resist them, she said.
Now they are resorting to secret killing by targeting the religious leaders like priests and university teachers and even they have targeted the families of brave police officers, she said.
Replying to a supplementary question from Jayita Party member Fakrul Imam, the Prime Minister said her only political goal was to materialize the dream of Bangabandhu and ensure a place of dignity for Bangladesh amongst the world community.
A vested quarter was out to demean Bangladesh and its people since independence. But now the situation has changed and we could bring Bangladesh to a dignified position, she said.
