Introduction
ISO files are a nifty way for companies to distribute software electronically because they make it easy to collect all the bits that make up a program and store them in a single file.
They are a popular method of delivering free operating systems like Ubuntu, for example. But once you have downloaded an ISO, what are you supposed to do with it?
In the past, Windows users would need another program to save the ISO file to a disc so that they could use it, but with Windows 7 this functionality is built in.
This Workshop shows how to save an ISO file onto a standard recordable CD or DVD. This can then be used to install the program on any modern Windows PC in the usual way.

We have decided to download the latest version of Ubuntu from www.ubuntu.com, so we can burn it onto a disc and install it on another PC at some point in the future. By default, Windows 7 puts this into the Downloads folder inside the main user folder. Navigate to this folder to find the downloaded file. Insert a blank CD or DVD in the drive and if the Autoplay dialogue box appears, close it by clicking the ‘x’ in the top right-hand corner. Then, right-click on the ISO file and choose ‘Burn disc image’ from the pop-up menu.
