e-News® | The NEWS Company…RANGPUR, Oct 15, 2015 : A court here today granted another five-day police remand of arrested Humayun Kabir Hira for further interrogation in connection with the Japanese citizen Hoshi Kunio murder case.
Hira along with a local BNP leader Rashedun Nabi Khan Biplob was earlier taken on 10-day police remand since October 6 and police got important information during integration so far from Hira, police sources said. However, police sent BNP leader Rashedun Nabi Khan Biplob to the jail hajat through producing before the court after his four-day interrogation in police remand.
On expiry of the 10-day police remand, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Kawnia Thana Mamunur Rashid produced Hira before the court today with a prayed for more five-day police remand. After hearing on the prayer, Senior Judicial Magistrate of Rangpur Md Abu Taleb granted another five-day police remand of Hira for interrogation in connection with the murder case. Humayun Kabir Hira is the business partner of deceased Japanese citizen Hoshi Kunio.
Meanwhile, the five-member probe committee headed by Acting Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur Range Humayun Kabir has been continuing investigation and regularly assessing the progress being achieved in investigation process. The other members of the committee are Major Ashraf of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13, Police Super Abdur Razzaque, Additional Police Super of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Abdus Salam and Additional Police Super of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Shah Montaz Hossain.
A band of three masked criminals, riding on a motorcycle, gunned down Hoshi Kunio, 66, in Katchu Alutari village under Kawnia upazila in the outskirts of the city on October 3 last in the morning. Hoshi Kunio was crossing the area towards his agriculture farm set up for highly specialised grass cultivation in Katchu Alutari village when the killers shot him and fled the scene. Kunio had been residing as a paying guest at the house of Zakaria Haque Bala at Munshipara in the city for last few months and he used to visit his grass farm daily in the morning. Later, body of Hoshi Kunio was buried at Munshipara graveyard in the city with full honour and dignity on October 13.
