e-News® | The NEWS Company… DHAKA, Oct 26, 2014 – Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu said BNP has no stance against militancy. They do not believe in democracy. On the contrary, they are allying with militants to seize power unconstitutionally.
“They believe in killing adversaries. They were involved in the conspiracy to kill Bangabandhu, rehabilitating Bangabandhu’s killers, killing Colonel Taher and the bid to kill Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
“Through these activities they have made their position clear,” the minister said. The minister, also president of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASHOD,) was addressing a meeting at the Institute of Engineers to mark the founding of his party 42 years back. “There is no alternative to JASHOD in the fight against militancy and establishing good governance, “the JASHOD president said. “JASHOD is inevitable in uniting all progressive and non-communal forces, “he said. He further said that there was no option to democratic reforms in containing militancy and negative politics.
To make the democratic system more inclusive, transparent, ensure good governance and creating a system free of partisanship and corruption certain changes have to be considered like introduction of an upper house in parliament, autonomy of local government, proportionate representation and Article 70 of the Constitution. Inu said there was no alternative to recasting the colonial structure of the bureaucracy and eliminating partisanship if democracy was to be instutionalized.
Pro-vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dr Md Shahidullah Sikder, principal of Care Medical College, Professor Dr M Moazzem Hossain and former member of parliament, Shah Jikrul Ahmed were also spoke at the meeting.
