State won power development company signed contracts with Japanese and Korean company to set up 399.28mw base-load combined cycle power plant .
Total 399.28MW in which 273.57MW simple cycle and 125MW HRSG at Bibiyana-3, gas fired power plant. State-owned Power Development Board will purchase electricity from these plants.
Combined cycle unit of plant is scheduled for 22 months and Simple cycle unit of this plant for 273.57mw is 660days from contract effective date. With budgeted 2923 crore taka for the plant.
As per contracts, the plant will be combined cycle repayment period 10 years wit 3.28% interest.
In public sector IPP it is the first contract under Engineering, construction procurement where the contractor arranges fund.
On the other hand, the source of fund will combined while buyers credit for 85% of foreign currency and 100% of local currency, GOB financing for 15% of foreign currency.
State won power development board and Marubeni Corporation and Hyundai Engineering & construction co.Ltd. Consortium tie by contract.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, who was present at the contract signing ceremony as chief guest, said that through this project, the government has finally proceeded towards resolving power crisis by setting up big project.
Mentioning the energy as the key tools for enhancing work capacity for the development, he said that without electricity development is not possible.
FM minister said power price will hike again and in this issue should not be used for calling HARTAL, if BNP do, it will be a madly activities.
Prime Minister’s Advisor Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, State Minister for Power Enamul Haque, ERD Secretary Abul Kalam Azad and PDB chairman Abdul Ohab khan were also present at the signing ceremony held at Biddyt Bhaban.
The contracts signed by Company sectary BPDB Mohammad Azizul Islam and Tae hong kim company sectary from Hyundai ,Kusunoki from Marubeni .
