e-News® | The NEWS Company…RANGPUR, Feb 8, 2016 : Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque has said police will soon submit charge sheets in the murder cases of Japanese citizen Kunio Hoshi in Rangpur and Italian citizen Cesare Tavella in Dhaka.
“We have given special importance on investigation of these foreigner murder cases,” he told journalists after inaugurating Annual Sports Competitions and Police Rally-2016 of District Police at Rangpur Police Lines School & College ground here this afternoon. He said most of the accused persons of these foreigner murder cases have already been arrested, they have given confessional statements before the learned courts and hectic efforts are on to nab the other absconding accused persons in these connections.
“The investigation processes in connections with these foreigner murder cases have been nearing completion and police will submit charge sheets before the learned courts very soon,” he added. While answering to a question, the IGP said formalities have been finalised in connection with formation of Rangpur Metropolitan Police and further necessary steps would be taken after enacting related law by the Jatiya Sangsad following the Cabinet approval.
Responding to another question, he said none would be spared in connection with killings of the journalists in different areas of the country, including Rangpur, and investigations are continuing and police trying its best for nabbing the culprits behind these murders. Earlier, the IGP formally inaugurated the District Police Sports by releasing balloons at a colourful ceremony arranged at Rangpur Police Lines School & College ground as the chief guest.
Presided over by Police Super Abdur Razzaque, Acting DIG Humayun Kabir, City Mayor Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar, President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and high officials attended on the occasion. Later, the IGP distributed prizes among the winner police members in different sports events of the Annual Sports Competitions followed by a colourful cultural evening and dinner at night.
